How The Worst Tragedy Imaginable Put Him In The Hospital Room That Changed His Life.
James Costello was at the Boston Marathon finish line on April 15th, 2013. He was standing with childhood friends and was extremely close to the explosions when the bombs went off. He suffered serious burns to his arms and legs. The burns were so bad, he needed pig skin grafts to heal the area. But even though April 15th was “one of the worst days of his life,” as James wrote on Facebook, it lead to something so joyful he could have never imagined it.
This is James, dazed and injured after the bombs went off. He probably didn’t realize how badly hurt he was.
Krista D’Agostino is a nurse that James met during his length recovery.
He underwent multiple surgeries at Massachusetts General Hospital, then he was moved to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He met the love of his life there.
He and Krista shared some mutual friends but never met before. When he saw her… he knew. She was kind-hearted and beautiful… and never gave up on James.
Their love quickly blossomed, and only 8 months after the tragedy, something amazing happened.
James and Krista were on a 10-day trip to Europe for bombing survivors when he popped the question. Seeing that the two met because of this tragedy, this trip for those survivors seemed like an ideal place to start their life together. From the ashes, a pure and amazing love arose when James proposed in Lyon, France.
The day of the Boston Marathon bombing was a nightmare, but it gave birth to something so beautiful.
