Pathetic: Jeffrey Goldberg plays victim after deleting Palin-bashing tweet

By

Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic for some reason thought this picture had some basis in reality before deleting it after criticism:

null

This photo made me think of Sarah Palin, for some reason: pic.twitter.com/2E1cn84Jal

— Jeffrey Goldberg (@JeffreyGoldberg) September 19, 2014

Here's the #waronwomen Palin-bashing deranged journo tweet of the day==> https://t.co/cdlefExWz2 pic.twitter.com/bX9EfuGfok

— Michelle Malkin (@michellemalkin) September 19, 2014

Initially Goldberg didn’t say he was deleting the tweet because it was idiotic and inappropriate, but rather because he claimed it was inviting nasty criticism:

I'm deleting that Sarah Palin tweet because I don't want to read threats made against my family.

— Jeffrey Goldberg (@JeffreyGoldberg) September 19, 2014

But FWIW, I thought it was a badass photo, actually.

— Jeffrey Goldberg (@JeffreyGoldberg) September 19, 2014

From aggressor to victim in a few short minutes!

Yep. You're the victim RT @JeffreyGoldberg: I'm deleting that Sarah Palin tweet because I don't want to read threats made against my family.

— Will Antonin (@Will_Antonin) September 19, 2014

And now @jeffreygoldberg deletes his deranged tweet & turns himself into a victim! https://t.co/72DUoOgjrY pic.twitter.com/X67FNeB245

— Michelle Malkin (@michellemalkin) September 19, 2014

Shorter @jeffreygoldberg -I'm deleting my stupid, hateful, rabid tweet because my critics are so stupid, hateful & rabid!

— Michelle Malkin (@michellemalkin) September 19, 2014

You should've deleted it because it was stupid, too. https://t.co/eRmsQi9Bta @JeffreyGoldberg

— RB (@RBPundit) September 19, 2014

@JeffreyGoldberg Look: threats are inexcusable, all decent ppl agree. But original sentiment was also asinine & grotesquely flippant, no?

— Jeff [email protected] (@EsotericCD) September 19, 2014

.@JeffreyGoldberg Also it was dumb, insulting, and thoughtless.

— Instapundit.com (@instapundit) September 19, 2014

You poor thing, forced to be an asshole MT @JeffreyGoldberg I'm deleting Palin tweet bc I don't want to read threats made against my family.

— Anthony Bialy (@AnthonyBialy) September 19, 2014

Goldberg offered a forced apology:

We all tweet stupid stuff. Just apologize, delete if you want to, and move on smarter. DO NOT shift blame. Not a good look.

— Mollie (@MZHemingway) September 19, 2014

@MZHemingway I apologize. I did not mean to suggest that Sarah Palin is the equivalent of a Taliban supporter.

— Jeffrey Goldberg (@JeffreyGoldberg) September 19, 2014

Well what was he trying to suggest then?

One thing’s for sure: Goldberg opened a can of worms with his “makes me think of” tweet:

For some reason this picture reminded me of Jeffrey Goldberg pic.twitter.com/qNXcpGwOuB

Goldberg was later able to move on:

@JeffreyGoldberg Having a rough day aren't you Jeffrey?

— Sgt. Sugar Tits (@GOPMommy) September 19, 2014

"Sgt. Sugar Tits" is upset with me: https://t.co/QViuAE8ner

— Jeffrey Goldberg (@JeffreyGoldberg) September 19, 2014
